Stereo Version of a Classic! There are some devices, like the LA-2A for instance, that are legendary in the recording world. Based on the classic LA-2A design, the new 2-LA-2 offers two linked or independent channels and two T4 optical compression cells per channel, greatly expanding the uses of the original LA-2A. The 2-LA-2 is not an exact component clone of the classic LA-2A, but a feature-enhanced stereo evolution of its ancestor that elegantly combines two channels of silky, tube-amplified, stereo matched optical gain reduction in one unit. Designed by original UREI engineer Dennis Fink, the 2-LA-2 retains the original all-discrete Class A circuitry and core "sonic signature" components that made the LA-2A the studio standard compressor in recording studios around the world. Universal Audio 2-LA-2 At-a-Glance: Legendary Opto Circuit Classic Sound, Only Better Audiophile Construction Legendary Opto Circuit Like its ancestor, the 2-LA-2 works by applying the audio signal to an electro-luminescent light panel which shines on a photo-electric cell which in turn controls the gain. Designed by original UREI engineer Dennis Fink, the 2-LA-2 retains the core "sonic signature" components that made the LA-2A the studio standard compressor in recording studios around the world. Classic Sound, Only Better With ten tubes and two T4 gain reduction modules, the 2-LA-2 is a breakthrough in optical compression. While the 2-LA-2 is not an exact component clone of the classic hand-wired LA-2, the 2-LA-2 is the next generation of the LA optical compression sound. By adding some extra unique features, the 2-LA-2 even allows hardcore tweakers to substitute T4 modules to "tune" compression."
