From Our Research Team:

Taylor Tone, Fantastic Value!

With a laminate rosewood body, Sitka spruce top, and rosewood fretboard and bridge, the 214ce makes the Taylor experience more accessible than ever. Scalloped bracing delivers the Taylor steel-string tone, and black fiber binding, dot inlays, and wood fiber rosette contribute to a smart appearance.

Taylor ES Blue
With the ES Blue amplification system, this affordably-priced Dreadnought can now be plugged-in to further enhance the Taylor playing experience. Derived from the Taylor Expression System, the ES Blue utilizes a proprietary Dynamic String Sensor and a Taylor-devised active preamp. The result is a high-fidelity, low-impedance signal for clear, acoustic amplified tone.

Taylor 214ce Wood
A modestly priced guitar with tonal qualities and resonance approaching that of a premium acoustic guitar - an incredible value. In the 200 Series, laminate rosewood adds depth to the sparkle of a Sitka top, filling in a full range of tonal possibilities.

Taylor 214ce Body Style: Grand Auditorium A/E Cutaway
Taylor's Grand Auditorium combines the width and depth of a Dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Taylor 214ce Finish: Varnish
A durable varnish finish offers protection, good looks, and a smooth feel to the touch. Available in natural finish.

Best in class

In my opinion, the best acoustic guitar for under $1,000. I tried similar guitars from Guild, Martin, and Yamaha and I always came back to the Taylor. The string to string balance of the Taylor is w... read more [+]hat sets it apart from the competition. Highly recommended. Ordered it from Sweetwater. Unlike other "big" internet music retailers, they do a full 55 point inspection before it goes out the door so you know your getting a quality product when it arrives. close [-]

I just got me 214ce and I am blown away by the sound this guitar puts out. You can hear every note cut through on every chord you play. I had the 114ce for a while but this guitar is much bettter. It ... read more [+]feels more solid and has a more full sound than the 114ce. This is a great way to get the taylor you've always wanted but not spend your whole paycheck. I've had three guitars delivered to me from Sweetwater and none of them had any issues. They really take care of you. close [-]

I've had the privilege to play some awesome instruments, really expensive ones and really cheap ones, this guitar, which I own, is a very nice and sweet sounding guitar, I've also played the other mor... read more [+]e expensive series, which in my opinion, does sound somehow better, for what I understand it's a tiny bit pricey, but again you are getting a really quality guitar, in other words, if you have some more money to spend, go for the 414 series, but if not, don't feel bad, you are getting a really NICE and beautiful guitar, ohh! and one more thing, it is a TAYLOR! :) close [-]

Best Guitar under $1000

by Bob from Melbourne FL
December 24, 2009
Music Background: Worship Team
I almost bought this guitar, but afer a week of playing both the 214ce and the 314ce, I opted to go with the 314ce... but it was a very close call. I love the sound of the 214ce and the value. The mai... read more [+]n reason I dished out the extra $600 for the 314ce is it had a more solid feel and slightly better response (i.e. tone / action) to my style of play. I also preferred the 314ce's Expression electronics, but the 214ce's ES-T electronics still sound great! Note: I also tried 414ce and above, but to me, not much sound difference compared to 314ce (only visual differences). close [-]
