Secret Weapon
by Tony T from Pennsylvania, July 2007
Music Background: Voice Over Producer/ Home Recordist
When you meet a disc jockey in person and think "wow their voice is so much better on the radio" this box may be why. Thousands of stations use this to beef up their air talent. I can see why too. My voice over productions lacked some UMPH until I got my hands on this unit. The 204 added that big radio sound to my stuff without being too obvious or driving the levels through the roof. Gives space warmth to sterile digital recordings. Controls are a little touchy at first but once you dial in the sweet spot...mmmm-mmmm good!
Great piece of equipment
by Paul from Castle Rock, CO, May 2007

I use this on acoustic guitar to brighten the higher frequency harmonics just a tad. Just as advertised, it also makes bass 'seem' louder even though the volume of the bass is not increased. Adds a nice sense of space around the tracks, I use it mostly for the background tracks because of the spaciousness and clarity, and then I use the BBE for lead instruments and bass guitar because the BBE adds a little different color and some added intensity.
Aphex 204
by Mike Slay from Branson, Mo., May 2007
Music Background: Pro musician, song writter
This thing is astounding!! Makes everything sound better. A must when recording to DAW if you don't have the best preamps, converters, and so on. I added this to my little $15,000.00 studio setup and the results are to good to beleive. If your not a (REAL!!) pro engineer, it will help make you sound like one. Great for live also.
"OUTSTANDING PRO RESULTS FOR LIVE OR STUDIO."
by Ingvar Estrada from NV., March 2007
Music Background: Singer with studio
"Very satisfied with the sound enhancement and clarity."
In addition, very little tweeking is neccessary to make the audio mix just right.
The aphex 204 is a fabulous, professional product that
should cost much more for the quality that it produces.
In love

Yes This is a great unit to get at the price it cost. I loving using it for mastering applications where Lets face it. Digital Sound are thin, Cold, and Pure lame. This restores (if used correctly) Warmth and Depth to mixes. It tightens the bass up real nice and makes it PHATTT!!!!!!!!! The Higher end makes the vocals just sit right and pop out at you. The mixes turn out louder. This is a great unit. And i plan on using this even when i get higher priced equpiment.
Nice "Magic Box"
by Matt from Georgia, October 2006
Music Background: Recording Engineer / Mastering Engineer
in some ways like a BBE sonic maximizer, but generally i think it's BETTER than the BBE. It is the same concept - a magic box that you run everything through and it sounds better. But, it does this in a much different way than the BBE, and i find this way to be more "musical" and less destructive. The big bottom is nice when you are in a hurry and don't want to mess with the low end. great live, in the studio, or even wired into your home stereo system.
