I would not play my Rickenbacker, Fender Jazz or Tacoma Thunderchief (or any bass) without this box! It makes any great bass sound that much better. It adds clarity and punch. Without it, the sound is... read more [+] duller. It's not exactly sexy like a flanger or an SVT box, but it's absolutely indispensable. The only knock against it is the plastic inputs: without metal hexnuts, they feel a bit weak.
