I am a professional video production company. I have added the degidign 003 controller to an I- mac computer runing the pro tools software that came with it. I now record my video`s with all my audio ... read more [+]running through the 003 and can have as many mic`s as I want. I presently run a Digimax D8 on my 003 and now have up to 12 xlr mic`s recording to my video`s - UN REAL - I knew nothing about audio but after learning on my own and with the pro tools tutorials I am now after 10 months also recording cd`s for musician`s here in my town. If anyone is looking at recording music or just plain audio like a P.A. system, the digidesign 003 and pro tools are the way to go. ( My clients say I have the best recording equpiment they have ever heard )( even though I now very little ) I knew nothing about the system and after 1 month have learned alot about audio. And since... read more [+] it works through firewire, you have free USB ports for anything else you might be using. I loved all the free software they give you. A lot of them are very useful when it comes to mixing and mastering. However, the only real issue i had with the it is It only has four (4) mic preamps, making it a little hard to mic full drum kits. The lightpipe feature makes up for this, if you want to throw down some extra cash for external preamps. close [-]

OK so i've been looking at this for about a year comparing and reading about this and other DAW's. I've been working on a Roland VS2000 for a couple of years and have made several CD's for people. But... read more [+] the editing was a little tricky. So anyway I received the 003 loaded pro tools and "BAM" it was a whole new world. I've read you can start right in recording so I tried and was even more impressed at play back. Give yourself some time to upload and go through the ignition pack and give your self plenty of time to see what this crazy system can do for you. I'm blown away with the editing you can do. I watched the instuctional DVD and had to go outside and let my brain cool down. I remember smiling and saying wow a lot. Now you may have to get an external hard drive to help out I did and it helped my desktop handle the load. But really if your going to record and do it well this is the system. July 2, 2008 Music Background: Playing anything with a sting on it since I was 12, tons of bands, CD's and now helping others recording. Now something about Sweetwater. I've talked with Chad for about a year, asking him questions about the different systems etc. he would call and check on me and then when I ordered he called to insure it was me that ordered.
