Robby Resnick
Robby Resnick
Hello, my name is Robby Resnick and I'm excited to have a chance to earn your business. A little about myself... I grew up in Atlanta playing drums in bands around the city. At a young age, my school counselor recommended I get interested in recording. That changed my life. I graduated with honors from MTSU for Recording Industry - Production and Technology. I was a first call assistant for many of my professors and assisted on sessions at the symphonic center in Nashville as well as in the studio at MTSU for Pearl Drums and Warner Brother Records.
Immediately after school, I was hired to be a part of the Sweetwater team. While my early education in recording and live sound was received at the "School of Hard Knocks", I currently hold certifications from Avid Icon, Apogee, Genelec, Avid Venue, and many more. I am most proud of my Avid Icon certification which is an intensive multi-class course class on higher-end studio integration.
I understand the challenges you face, and I'm confident that my background will help us come up with a creative solutions to your audio needs.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

Where are you from originally?
I grew up in Atlanta GA, but I was born in Mandeville, LA. The comment I receive the most from my customers is that I don't have a distinct accent. Next time we talk, let me know if you can hear it.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
For many years, I worked as a customer service representative for a large warranty company. After that, I owned a small business that I ran throughout college. So I'd say that's where my customer service skills probably come from.
-
Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
I had heard about Sweetwater from a friend who previously worked here. He thought I'd be a great fit and I have to agree. I love working here.

Foreign languages:
If "recording geek speak" counts, then I'm extremely fluent!
-
Instruments you play:
I've been playing guitar since I was 10, drums since I was 13.
-
Gear you own:
I've been cycling equipment for years. Currently, Quad Apollo, and 4-710, a TNT, SuPre, and Focal Solo 6's. But my favorite recording piece by far is my D-Box. I also have a great Tama BB kit, two Wechter guitars, a few keyboards, and a smattering of mics.

Describe the most dramatic situation in which you provided the Sweetwater Difference for a customer, or the most unusual/creative solution to a customer's problem:
I was contacted by a design & engineering firm doing an exhibition. Due to non-disclosure with their client, they could not tell me much at that time. In short, I was told it was a small, live environment. We were micing percussive instruments being played by robots, and everything had to be able to be accessed remotely for service and maintenance. After a month of dialogue with a brilliant engineer/software designer, we put it together. I'm proud to say that was the Universal Orchestra at Google's Chrome Web Lab. Just imagine what kind of solutions I can help you with!
-
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Sweetwater team?
Access to 180 of the greatest minds in the musical world. Also, meeting some of the people I look up to like George Massenburg, Eveanna Manley, David Royer, and Chuck Surack. They are among my most noteable.
-
Who are some of the notable artists you've worked with?
Chuck Ainlay, Brandon Schexnayder, and Nick Autry of Sound Stage Studios in Nashville. I'm honored to be their first call for help! http://www.soundstagenashville.com/

What is the best piece of advice you can offer?
Two things. First, equipment does not equal talent. The best gear in the world is no replacement for practice and skill. And two, always abide by the laws of equivalence. If you have a weak point in your chain, cure it. If you are the weak point, work on it!
Interview with Robby...
-
Robby worked closely with me on the availability of the limited quantity “black keys” version of the Crumar61b and with the bank and account I used exclusively for the purchase. As I rebuild my pro tool studio I will be relying on recommendations and guidance from Robby for studio gear, connectivity issues etc

Robbie Resnick has been my go to guy at Sweetwater for many years. He never steers me wrong

Robby has been great for years. Even though my days of buying higher end audio equipment are over, Robby treats every purchase I make with a friendly, respectful, and most helpful manner. I would also like to single out Aaron on the PC tech support team. Today, he was very patient with me, explaining every thing he did in Cubase to fix an issue. He is a wonderful example of a tech support person!

I needed a case/gig bag for a semi-hollowbody guitar someone gave me and was unsure what would fit it. Robby helped me select one that fits like a glove.
