Hit
The kind of song we all want to write. This term is used primarily in audio for video/film work. It is usually associated with a film "cut" - an abrupt change in the visual from one POV to another or from one scene to another. But a hit can be a visual "action point" within a continuous scene (from a slap to a smile to the beginning of a pan to a moment in the dialog... whatever), usually some noticeable visual or dramatic event thought to be sufficiently important to the scene to require some musical annotation. Many times it is something in the picture to be avoided musically. So in effect a hit may be anything in the picture the director or the composer deems to be important enough for the music to specifically honor or recognize in some way as the music proceeds from the beginning of the cue to the end of the cue.
