Pentium

A popular family of high performance microprocessors introduced by Intel Corporation in 1993. Also sometimes referred to as P5, 586 or even 80586 the name refers to the fact that it is the fifth microprocessor in their legendary 80×86 series of popular computing chips. Around 1995 Intel introduced the larger Pentium Pro, which has extra features largely oriented for server applications. Later the faster and more powerful Pentium II came out. Current versions or this are the Celeron (a lower end CPU) and Xeon, a higher end unit that replaces the Pentium Pro.
