Two Great New Products from Korg

 Electribe Music Production Station

Empowering musicians to compose in a creative and influential way, the new Electribe Music Production Station from Korg has evolved to include such features as polyphonic synth playback, 16 freely assignable parts, and compatibility with Ableton Live. The new Electribe features 16 backlit trigger pads and an intuitive X/Y touchpad, making it easy enough for a beginner to understand yet sophisticated enough to satisfy even the most experienced performers.

The new Electribe’s synthesis includes 409 waveforms, covering analog modeling and sample playback. The advanced analog modeling is distilled from the KingKORG synthesizer and includes filters that model those of classic analog synthesizers. The synth engine is capable of unison, sync, ring modulation, cross modulation, and much more. The PCM portion provides numerous rhythmic samples, but it also includes some multi-samples for keyboard input. Collaborations with Sample Magic, Loopmasters, and Prime Loops are also included in the Electribe.

The Electribe’s evolved step sequencer allows you to create patterns while receiving visual feedback and instantly hearing the set changes. The pads can function as a chromatic keyboard for real-time input or as a traditional step sequencer. The Motion Sequence function records knob and button operations and plays them back to create smooth or stepped modulation and other effects. The X/Y touchpad has several functions, such as a Kaossilator-style Touch Scale, which plays a scale when you slide a finger across the pad. It can also control effects and modulation sources. Effects such as compression and overdrive are provided for each part, allowing each of the 16 available parts to have their own sonic signature. Groove templates can also be specified for each part. Live performance is more intuitive than ever, due to the Pattern Set function, which allows you to instantly switch patterns by pressing the trigger pads.

Based on a partnership with Ableton, the new Electribe Music Production Station features the ability to export Ableton Live clips, enabling a direct link between the Electribe and one of the world’s most popular DAWs. In addition to MIDI I/O, Sync I/O jacks are provided, allowing synchronized performances with the Volca series, the Monotribe, or the MS-20 Mini. This newest edition to the Korg family will certainly impress even the most profound musicians.

KORG miniKP2S 2

MiniKP2S

Following in the footsteps of the popular handheld MiniKP2 Kaoss Pad, Korg proudly announces the more powerful MiniKP2S, the successor of the classic Kaoss Pad that’s equipped with even more performance and features. Like its predecessor, the MiniKP2S is packed with an amazing assortment of effects, controllable via its X/Y touchpad, as well as an MP3 playback via its MicroSD slot. External or onboard audio can be altered with effects that you can control and manipulate in real-time. The new MiniKP2S comes supplied with onboard sampling, allowing you to capture audio from external sources via the 1/8″ stereo input or via the onboard microphone. In addition, samples and audio that have been treated with the onboard effects can be instantly exported to Ableton Live for immediate integration into computer-based productions, making the MiniKP2S a perfect capture and remix tool.

The MiniKP2S runs on two AA batteries, allowing you to enjoy up to six hours of continuous sampling, effect processing, and audio playback in any location. The all-in-one design makes the MiniKP2S a great entry-level DJ performance tool.
