Here are just a few tips for using Auralex acoustic foam:

1. This may be hard to believe (though I've spent HOURS doing this very thing), but to cut your Studiofoam (and other Auralex products), simply use an electric carving knife! You can create custom designs, a super finished touch and super-smooth edges. The key is to let the knife do the work!

2. If you're looking for a way to temporarily fasten your Studiofoam or other Auralex products, try using T-pins (available at fabric/dept. stores). T-pins will support your treatment while the Tubetak or Foamtak bonds. When adhesives can't be used or when you need to temporarily mount the treatment to fine "tune" your room, T-pins provide an easy solution. Traditional fasteners (screws, nails, tacks, etc.) also work in many situations.

3. If you want a permanent installation that you can take with you should you move, Auralex makes inexpensive mounting panels called Vel-X that come in 2x2 sheets and can be easily cut with a box cutter or x-acto knife. They work great for mounting LENRDs and all types of foam. Adhere your Studiofoam to the Vel-X with Tubetak or Foamtak. Then nail, tack or screw the whole piece into the wall. This way, when and if you ever move you can take your Auralex foam with you without having to tear it down from the wall.
