Questions (and Answers) On Event's New Digital Audio Cards
10/30/1997

Questions (and Answers) on Event's new digital audio cards (Gina, Darla, we'll assume the answers will hold true for Layla as well):

Q:
Can the Windows Multimedia system access the Darla?

A:
Yes. We have been able to route all of our startup, shut down, error, and multimedia .WAVs through the Event cards. This would eliminate the need for a Soundblaster-type card for these types of audio. You would still need a GM module to hear synthesized music; the Events do not contain synthesis capabilities.

Q:
What software is currently supporting the Event cards?

A:
We haven't tested everything, but so far we have tried Darla and Gina with Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0, Rebirth 1.5, Recycle, Cubase VST 3.5, Logic Audio 2.5, Samplitude 4.0, Soundforge 4.0, and Wavelab 1.6. All of these programs supported the Events just fine. In all of the multitrack programs except Logic Audio 2.5 we were able to route audio out of all eight outputs. Logic Audio 2.5 does not support multiple audio outputs. Logic Audio 3.0 is now shipping, and will solve this problem.

Q:
Can you use multiple cards in the same computer system?

A:
Darla - You cannot achieve sync between multiple Darla cards in the same computer.

Gina - You can achieve sync between multiple Gina cards installed in the same computer by tying the S/PDIF out from the master card to the S/PDIF input on the slave card. This does eliminate the ability to use the card's S/PDIF connection for audio.
