"How can I get my AW4416 to display waveforms on the screen? Or does it even do that?"

Yes it does, but it takes a few steps to get there. It can only display one track at a time, and you need to select a section to view before you initiate the function. Following the procedure below will get you there.

1) Press the [TRACK] button.
2) Press the [F1] button.
3) Use the Cursor buttons to select the desired Track. A box will form around the selected Track.
4) Use the shuttle of the (DATA/JOG) dial to locate the desired point in the Song.
5) Press and hold the [SHIFT] button, then press the [F2] button. The waveform of the selected Track, at the current location of the Song, will be displayed.

Once a waveform is displayed, additional viewing functionality is available. Adjusting the AMP (Amplitude) and TIME scale or ratio can change the perspective of the waveform. This allows you to effectively zoom in and zoom out on the waveform.
(NOTE: Any adjustment to the ''view'' does not alter or edit the recorded audio.)

1) To adjust the AMP (Amplitude) scale.
a) Use the Cursor buttons to highlight the ^ (increase AMP/TIME ratio) or (decrease AMP/TIME ratio) buttons.
b) Press the [ENTER] button repeatedly until the desired scale is in view.
2) To adjust the TIME scale.
a) Use the Cursor buttons to highlight the < (decrease TIME/AMP ratio) or > (increase TIME/AMP ratio) buttons.
b) Press the [ENTER] button repeatedly until the desired scale is in view.
3) To change the location in the Song.
a) Turn the (DATA/JOG) dial counter-clockwise to ''rewind'' or clockwise to ''fast-forward''. The display will reflect the changing waveform.
To exit the Waveform Display:
1) Use the Cursor buttons to highlight 'EXIT'.
2) Press the [ENTER] button to close the waveform display.
