Non-exact Doubles

Here's a trick to try when producing your next project: instead of recording an exact double of a part, record the first pass, then record the double an octave higher, or with a different tone or different chord voicings or inversions. The result can sound bigger, and for lack of a better word, "broader" than a standard "exact duplicate" double.
