Finale to Sibelius
04/30/2009

Q: I need to get some notation files that are in Finale into Sibelius. Is there an easy way to do this?

A: Sibelius 5 will directly open .mus Finale 98/2000 files. For Finale 2001 or later, Sibelius will open .etf files.

Where possible, the best solution is often to export a MusicXML file from Finale, then import that file into Sibelius. The conversion isn't 100%, but it should get you pretty close.

Another option is to save a standard MIDI file from Finale, then import that into Sibelius. With this option, you will have to completely re-create any notation editing/massaging you have done.
