The End of SCSI — or is it?

True, SCSI had its limitations, most notably the whole issue of assigning SCSI device numbers, termination, and of course, SCSI devices weren’t meant to be hot-pluggable. So we’ll all be happy to see SCSI go the way of the dinosaurs, right? Well, maybe not.

The truth is, SCSI is still very useful! Okay, it’s not as fast as FireWire 800, but still….

With many people tossing away their SCSI drives, there are some great bargains available. SCSI cards are available that plug into your computer’s PCI slots and are dirt cheap. USB 2.0 and FireWire 800 may be the future, but SCSI is still a viable alternative. What’s more, you can use SCSI drives with your Kurzweil K2500 and other hardware samplers.
