More Information On 1212 I/O’s and Re-Initializing After Crashes

More information on the Korg 1212I/O card issue (inSync TTOTD 2/13/98) comes from Dan Phillips at Korg research and development. According to him the power just needs to be recycled if the computer crashes so there is no need to remove the power cable. In his own words: “If the computer crashes, whether or not the crash happens while you’re working in a digital audio program, you’ll need to do a complete power cycle before starting up again, as opposed to simply pressing “restart.” Turn off power for a moment – just a second will do – to ensure that the 1212 I/O card will be properly re-initialized. Otherwise, the card will be left in an indeterminate state, and will not show up in your digital audio programs, or in the Sound control panel.”
