Q: I purchased a new guitar from Sweetwater that has a nitrocellulose finish, and the neck feels kind of sticky to the touch, rather than being smooth, glassy feeling. What can I do about this?
A: This is fairly common with nitro finishes, due to the way in which the finish cures. Opinions vary on treatments, but ours is that the best solution is to play it — a lot! As you play the guitar, the stickiness will quickly diminish until it is completely gone.
