Roland Octa-Capture
- by Gilbert Janke, 05-22-2012
Roland is not the first company that comes to mind when considering interfaces, so I was naturally hesitant when told to check out the Octa-Capture. Simply put, I was blown away! What I heard was nothing but a crystal clear sound with a great stereo imaging field. No noise, no coloration, just clean gain and transparent output!

Manley Variable Mu
- by Gilbert Janke, 03-21-2012
This studio staple is Huge! A wildly successful and highly used magic machine. Great for tracking and mastering because of how clean and open it can sound, but has such a unique sonic footprint that leaves your mixes tighter, more defined and polished when used as a stereo 2 buss compressor. At high compression it leaves that loved and pleasing harmonic distortion, and with out adding too much coloration. Many compare it to some the
"holy grails" of compressors, like the Fairchild 660/670, and after pushing some program through it is totally obvious why studios the world over want this piece in their racks!
