Q: I’m having a lot of trouble restringing my guitar, which has a Bigsby tailpiece. Any suggestions?
A: The key is to get the ball end of the string to stay on the little post on the tailpiece. Suggestions include pre-bending the string so that it wraps around the tailpiece, using a pencil eraser to hold the ball end on the post, using a foam wedge or other soft but firm item under the tailpiece “axle” to hold the string/ball end in place, or even pulling the string through and using a capo on the neck to hold tension on the string.
