Where to Put a Compressor on a Pedalboard

Q: I’m using an overdrive, a chorus, and a delay with my guitar, and I just bought a new compressor pedal from Sweetwater. Where should I put it in the chain?

A: Most players would probably put the compressor first, to provide the rest of the pedals with the benefits of a compressed signal (smooth dynamics, increased sustain, perhaps a bit of gain boost) to operate upon.

However, you won’t hurt anything by trying it elsewhere in the signal path. Feel free to experiment!
