An instrument introduced in 1935 by the WCAU Broadcasting Company here is the U.S., working on patents held by Ivan Eremeef. This was a dual-keyboard instrument with stops similar to those of a pipe organ to control the tone colors on the general principles of selection of harmonics. The tones were produced by rotating discs between a light source and a photoelectric cell and then amplified.
