This is a lustrous silvery white metal that takes an extremely high polish. Because of nickel’s innate stability and its high resistance to oxidation, it is an excellent material for plating guitar hardware, including humbucker pickup covers, tuners, and tailpieces. Nickel is also commonly used in the manufacture of electric guitar strings.
