John Petrucci of Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, and other respected projects has been playing Mesa/Boogie amps for nearly three decades. His favorite has long been the discontinued Mark IIC+ model — which has also been a favorite of many other guitarists over the years for its perfect amount of gain, liquid sustain, crystalline cleans, tight bottom end, and sweet harmonics. But for Petrucci, and many other players, the Mark IIC+ also had some limitations; shared controls, only two channels, no MIDI control, and so on. Now those limitations have been addressed by Mesa/Boogie, who worked in collaboration with Petrucci to create the ultimate Mark IIC+ reissue, the JP-2C MarkIIC+!
This new all-tube amp head features 60/100 watts of switchable output power, three channels (clean, and two lead/crunch channels), dual assignable graphic EQs, independent reverb control for each channel, unique “Shred” control for maximizing aggression and articulation on the lead/crunch channels, full MIDI control, 6-button footswitch, pull gain and presence voicing on the lead/crunch channels, and more!
Two versions are currently available: the signature black JP-2C Mark IIC+ head and a limited-edition version with a flame maple front panel and signed by both John Petrucci and amp-designer Randall Smith.
