A method of copying data where the specific content of the data is entirely ignored. An image copy just takes a snapshot of the data on an original and recreates it in exactly the same way on the copy. Copying data this way is usually faster and less troublesome than a normal procedure where the data is processed through some CPU. It even allows a device to copy media that is foreign to it (like copying a PC disk on a Mac).
