Q: I love the sound of P-90 single-coil pickups, and want to drop a set into my guitar, which currently has humbuckers. Will the P-90s fit okay or will I have to modify the guitar?
A: A regular P-90 is not going to fit correctly in place of a humbucker. If the guitar has a pickguard that surrounds the pickups, you could get a new one cut for it that works with the P-90s.
Another option is to go with a humbucker-sized P-90, such as the Seymour Duncan Phat Cats or the Gibson P-94.
