We explained how to figure out the tempo of any piece of music a few weeks back, but if you’re as bad at math as we are, you’ll appreciate a useful little feature found in BIAS Peak called Guess Tempo. As long as your recording has an obvious beat, you can select a section of audio (make a selection) then choose Guess Tempo from the Action menu. There will be a pause while Peak does the math, then a dialog will appear showing you the tempo in beats per minute (BPM). In most cases, it will be right on the nose as long as you give the software a large enough chunk of audio to work with.
