Q: I keep seeing audio interfaces and keyboards that say they are CoreAudio-compliant and CoreMIDI-compliant. Does this mean that I can just plug them into the Mac and they work, or do I still need to download and install drivers?
A: If a device is CoreAudio-compliant and/or CoreMIDI-compliant it should work when plugged into a Mac. However, many manufacturers still create and recommend specific drivers for their devices for optimal performance and stability, and to provide additional or proprietary features and functionality.
