Everybody knows that speakers have magnets in them, right? And the bigger the speaker, the bigger the magnet (at least in most cases). That’s why you should never place your desktop or laptop computer too close to any non-shielded speakers, particularly those in large PA applications. This probably seems like a no-brainer to most of you, but you’d be surprised at how often we see hard drives damaged or even wiped clean after being set atop a speaker. Sure, it’s a nice, convenient flat surface, but one with the ability to trash your valuable data!
