This is a term that developed over the years to describe the true gold-plated, brass “G” tailpiece that complements the headstock, truss rod cover, and fingerboard inlay motif of certain Gretsch guitars, most notably the White Falcon and the White Penguin. Each was hand-wrought and braised, not die-cast. All the work was done within the Gretsch manufacturing facility. In most cases, it was eventually replaced by a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.
