Guitar of the Day
Newly arrived, minty fresh and almost certainly destined to be with us for only a short time are three new Ibanez S2170 Prestige models in three fabulous finishes: Natural Burl, Antiqued Ebony (wild!) and Figured Bubinga (our personal fave). One look at the photos and you'll agree that this is clearly a guitar for rockers or proponents of shred or heavy metal. Yet once we plugged it in, we found plenty of tasteful sounds that would be perfect for many other genres, including surf, hardcore blues, or even classic southern rock. All three guitars have remarkably stunning tops that are guaranteed to turn heads the minute you lift one from its hardshell case! Each would be right at home on instruments costing several times what you'll pay for an S2170 Prestige. The tops are fully bound and set onto a comfortably contoured mahogany body, so long gigs or late night recording sessions should be a breeze. It's also got three hot DiMarzio IBZ pickups (two humbuckers and a single coil in the middle) - a versatile setup that should allow you to nail almost any sound you're after. Right behind the pickups sits the heavy artillery: a Zero Resistance tremolo tailpiece that will let you bend notes or entire chords over a wide range, not just a few semitones.
The Wizard II Prestige neck is also a revelation. Constructed of five pieces of maple and bubinga, it's so strong and stable you may never have to adjust the truss rod. It's topped with a fully bound, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a Prestige inlay on the 12th fret. Also, because of the way Ibanez designed the neck-to-body joint, you have easy access to the higher frets, making soloing just a bit easier. Ibanez could have easily slapped a much higher price tag on these guitars, they're truly that good. Hey, they even tossed in a deluxe hardshell case. You can bet this one is going to go fast, so don't hesitate - call us here at Sweetwater and order the S2170 Prestige for yourself!
