Big String Tuner
Q: I'm using one of my guitars for a lot of very low tunings (almost like a baritone guitar) and I want to use heavy strings so I can have good tension when I am tuned down. What is the biggest size string that I can use on a regular tuning machine?

A: Most standard guitar tuning machines will work with strings up to around .060 in gauge, give or take a few thousandths of an inch. For even heavier strings, you may need to find a tuner with a larger hole, or you may be able to carefully enlarge the tuner hole a bit to allow a larger string to pass through. This should only be an issue with low E tuner in most cases.
