Does anyone have any experience with the Alesis DEQ-830? I am considering it for a live install. Console will be Midas Venice 240. The EQ would be for, well, all outputs. Does anyone have any practical experience or sound quality comments?
My experience is that it would be a shame to stuff an Alesis EQ in line with a Midas. At least maybe look into a DBX EQ or a used Ashly if you can't afford BSS, Klark Teknik or XTA EQ's.
Thanks X, I agree. But, I'm running out of allotted funds. I've decided to only use them on monitors for feedback fighting. I'm no fan of the DBX entry level stuff and that's all that's available to me in this price range. I've been looking for the Ashly, BSS, and KTs used but the used price is still quite high and a non-profit just isn't going to be able to beat eight channels of EQ for $500. If you happen to come across a good deal, though...! Let me know. I can always upgrade in the future.
Sounds like you at least have a good plan and some direction. Sometimes budget compared to needs dictates gear purchases that we may not want to have to do. This sounds like one of those times. Good Luck
