    Speaker/Amp/Mixer for Vocalist

    Hi all,

My teenage daughter is a vocalist. She mostly sings with karaoke track (using IPoD) but sometimes with Live Guitar and/or Keyboard.

We are looking to purchase a portable speaker+Amp+mixer for her performances and practices. We need 4 channels (two microphone + one each for guitar and keyboard ).

I am pretty novice in this and looking for help. I know a guitarist who uses his Guitar Amp for vocal as well. I found the sound decent but I am sure it is not the best solution for our requirement.

I know Bose has a speaker system for about $1000 (plus another $500 for the mixer). Though it is high for us , I would go for it if that is the best solution but I think we should be able to get something within $500 range.

I am OK with a separate mixer+Amp and a Speaker or All in One. Must be portable (less than 25 lbs preferably) . Should give a decent quality output for a large living room (about 50 -100 people)

We have a Guitar Center nearby. So I can go there and check out if I get some advice on what to look for.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Yamaha StagePAS is right up your alley: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/sear...amaha+stagepas

You can find used ones on Craigslist for your target price. Of course, always try before you buy.

Thank you much for the suggestion. But this looks a little more bulky and heavy than what I am looking for. I am essentially looking for something similar to a Guitar Amp ... a single box (+ a Mixer/Amp if required). Easy to carry everywhere. Maybe I can get the Yamaha Stagepas and use one speaker when carrying it .

You may want to consider the Peavy Escort 3000, too. It has several helpful features and the price is reasonable. I owned one and it served me well in my vocal ministry in churches using guitar and music tracks. I passed it down o my daughter and her husband when I could no longer travel in ministry due to declining health.

Check out the Fishman A220. Wonderful sound. Easy to transport and very powerful. You might need a small sub mixer since I believe it only has three inputs, but check it out. It beats any of the small Passport type systems as far as sound.
