surroun sound in pc problem

Hi, guys,

i just installed a new logilink 5.1 channel pci sound card (model pc0027b).
My problem is that it plays movies alright, but when i switch to stereo, such as online radio or music, only two front speakers play and no subwoofer. i tried changing preferences, but no luck. I'm using dell omniplex gx620 and win7 ultimate

Can anyone help?

check the sound card settings. make sure it is set-up properly for 5.1
