    Good Distortion Plugins

What are the best distortion VST plugins can I get for Cubase 5? I don't really have a price limit unless it is some ridiculous number =P Any help? Oh, and I plan on recording mostly metal music if thats any help. thanks!

Amplitube is pretty good. IK Multimedia is having a promotional deal on it right now too, I believe.

Guitar Rig would be your competing software. Also pretty kickass.

I'd download some demos and compare! Best of luck.

All of them works in Cubase 5 and most of them offers demo version for test. Check Waves, Native Instruments, Image line etc. If you are user of some M-Audio hardware, they offering for free excellent plugs

Thanks a lot, both of you were a huge help. I went ahead and bought amplitude. for the moment being because I liked a few of the distortions and will most likely use them in some other genre of music.

the Amplitube Metal version is hands down the best I have used. I have both Amplitube 2 and Metal.

Peavey Revalver (which I won from Sweetwater contest) is okay, but sounds shrill to me.
I plan on leaving this world the same way I came into it - screaming and covered in someone else's blood!

ReValver can sound shrill.....if you're only using a preset. It's also hand's down THE most tweakable modeler out there. If you know what you're doing it can blow anything else out of the water. Of course I'm a little biased....as I helped develop it.

    Cheers....CapLock

Waves' GTR is great. Other than that, go for Guitar Rig. I use these effects not only on recorded guitars but also on synths and as a drum group send for some cool effects. Have fun!

You sure the plug isn't running in demo/trial mode Stryder?

I just heard the SPL plugins and their overdrive and distortion are quite good!

Your using the Demo thats why. Or at least this is what happens when you use the Demo and it used to happen to me years back when I had a copy of it.

I really like Trash from iZotope. Very useful for all sorts of things, not just guitar.

Yeah Trash is pretty cool, but the one I used to use seemed to be pretty cpu intensive. I was running this on a P4 though so it cained the system completely. I'd still say it uses a bit though. Similar to how Ozone can do too.
