M-Audio Radium 49 keystation midi issue. HELP!

First of all, let me run down for you my specs to get passed that much.

Windows XP pro Svc pk 3
Intel media platform DP35DP motherboard w/onboard sound
    Intel core 2 duo 2.40ghz
    2gigs ram
    M-Audio Radium 49 (not 49e)
...using Propellerhead Reason 4.0, Ableton Live 7

Here's my story: Just put together a wonderful system for the studio. The keyboard performed flawlessly on my old PC, and currently works equally wonderfully on the laptop... it's not busted, thankfully.
I did the install according to manufacturer specification and already there was an issue. Windows didn't recognize the Radium as being a MIDI interface until I installed the earlier driver for it, and uninstalled the 4.3 driver from 5/08 (as instructed by tech support from m-audio).
I'm thinking "Awesome" because now finally the PC, and my software "see" the keyboard. Well, not so much.
Sure, the programs and the OS now notice it there, "functioning properly" but it still wont work. No, it's not connected to a USB hub, just straight in.
So far, I have taken these steps (as noted from others' posts)...

Disabled on-board sound from taking control of MIDI devices
    Countlessly uninstalled/reinstalled drivers for keyboard
    Countlessly uninstalled/reinstalled software
Turned off power management on the USB ports
Remained on the phone with M-Audio tech for 2 hours (they tried, I'm happy)
Utilized the MIDI OX diagnosis tool (as recommended by M-Audio)
smoked approximately 12 cigarettes in 5 hours

My last wind on this is that perhaps this is an IRQ issue. I've done everything.
Specifically, the keyboard is seen by the system, but will not function. No keystrokes are logged in Midi OX, no pitch bends, nothing. The damned thing is there much like in a dream or something.
To further the cause, I have taken the keyboard downstairs to the neighbor's place... connected it, loaded the driver, installed MIDI OX for a quick check and WHAT? it WORKS?
    Alright, it's not broken. HELP!

Here's my IRQ list for those interested:

    Welcome to the forums innsaei,
The first thing you should be sure of is to have the keyboard connected to this USB hub.....
    IRQ 23 Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 293A OK
...and have no other USB devices connected to either of the following Hubs....
    IRQ 23 Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2934 OK
    IRQ 23 Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 293A OK

Confirm that this is the case, then you can procede to further troubleshooting if needed.

    You're welcome innsaei,
I take it then, that the problem has been solved?
If so, perhaps now you can cut back on the smokes....

Yeah, all it took was shuffling around the USB connections (damned motherboard has 8 on the back panel) which solved the entire situation. My guess is that the port nearest to where the keyboard was plugged in had the mouse attached, and they didn't like sharing.

Haven't had a cigarette all day!
