    Exclamation G4 Powebook, Microkorg....EDIROL???

    Hello All,
I am purchasing a Powerbook with plans to run Reason, and possible some recording software such as Pro=tools or Cubasis. I have a Microkorg synth, which doubles as a midi controller. I was wondering about MIDI hook up via- USB. Edirol makes 4 models of USB MIDI connectors, and i was wondering if anyone knows which one would be the fastest to use for recording into Reason, and Live performance. I also need an open MIDI Female going out to syncronize another Laptop. Would this work running a 1.25 GHz Powerbook? Will there be any serious Latency? Is there something I should know before purchasing these products????? Thanks for your time!!!!

    Alex:
What are you going to use for an audio interface? Gotta Ask.

Well, are you going to use the line-in on your powerbook, or get a higher quality interface? Something that will do your AD/DA for you.

Well i believe that I want to purchase a very cheap audio capture interface, possible something simple by Edirol. I have a limited budget to actually capture sound onto the machine. I would like to get good sound into it, but i cant spend more than $200. I also would like to get premium sound going out, for performance and outboard recording. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

How many channels? Check out the Tascam US122. 2 channels In/Out, mic/line with phantom switchable, guitar inputs, RCA and 1/4 balanced outs, 16 bit or 24 bit, 44.1 or 48kHz.
Edirol/Roland is good stuff too, but I've used the Tascam recently, and it's a pretty sweet built-like-a-tank box.
