I need help choosing a soundcard

What is your budget?

Have you thought about an external interface like firewire or USB? M-Audio makes some good stuff. You can look at sweetwater under "computer audio."

You dont say how many inputs or outputs you need, for external sound cards i would go with a firewire one, USB2 is ok for 2 / 4 channel recording but when it come to multi input recordings firewire wins.

You could look at Edirol FA66 or FA101 or MOTU 828mkII or Presonus etc

The list is big, its down to how much you want to spend and what you need it to do.
