Some info on your Mac would be of great assistance. Model number, processor speed, number of processors, RAM, HD's, other peripherals etc.

    Oops...totally forgot!!

Its a 933mhz G4 with 1.25GB RAM 60GB internal HD at 7200rpm and an external firewire drive, 60GB at 7200rpm. I'm running sessions off of the firewire drive.

    Thank you for any assistance!!!!!

Well, you shouldn't have any issues running off the FW drive. Have you turned off all unecessary background processes in the System Preferences? Turn your network off, turn off the screensaver, etc.

Shouldn't, have you checked for the latest updates for both PT, OSX and the 002?

Yes....I did. I think I found one issue....I was just recording a guitar/vocal demo, and it was working great. When I mix an entire band, it bogs down hard core. My explanation...plug-ins. Man...I had 4 DVerbs running and it said I was running out of processing power!! HOW LAME!! hehe.

I really wish there was a way to upgrade plug in processing power.

Thank you so much f0r your help! I realy apreciate it.

There is a way to upgrade your plug-in power. Purchase a dual processor upgrade card for your mac. Lucky you, you can do that. I can't with my older machine, it's not MP aware.
Another thing you might try which works for Digital Performer is reduce the playback buffer size during editing. It increases the load on the drives, but reduces the load on the processor.
Additionally, is the external hard drive plugged into it's own FW port, or into the 002?

I guess I'm just used to the HD3 at my internship. I'm gonna look into a dual processor card.

The drive is plugged into the Mac. Would that make a difference? Having the drive and the 002 on the same firewire bus?
Wouldnt it be the same if it was plugged into the 002?

    Thanks so much!!

Actually, it might be worse. You'll have to remember, the PTHD systems do the majority of the processing off processor in the outboard gear or on the PCI cards. The PTLE systems performance is directly related to your processing power.
I know a couple of studios in my area are running their PTHD systems on beige G3's and 9600's still.
