i got the new xt and i really love it. the amp models are much more realistic than the 2.0, especially the semi dirty to clean tones. the fact that they included a bunch of stomp boz models too is even better. i would go for it! i would mention too, that i still use a flextone II live, but only because it has an amp and speaker. i always use the xt in the studio though.

...not to mention MUCH better reverb, USB connectivity, and LCD display that is EXTREMELY helpful for editing presets...get it. You'll be glad you did.

    Thank You
I did not mention that I have Sanasamp PSA 1 rack unit as well.
Is it worthwile keeping if I get Pod xt.
Also is there separate output option on Pod xt like on Pod pro for connecting to guitar amp with correct impedances.
I can plug in the amp, and do it often, but found both Sansamp and old Pod dissapointing when I do so.

Ultimately, whether or not you keep the original POD and/or the Sans Amp...I think would depend on how you feel after you get the XT. I also own an original POD and don't plan on getting rid of that just because I got the XT. I use my PODs mainly for recording...it haven't found that I especially like them for live performing..but I love them for recording. You do have control over the outputs in RE to recording or connection to another amp...although there are no seperate outputs for this.

You mean that they are the same outputs (analog) as line interconection outputs to mixers and soundcards?
There must be an adjustment gain control othewise it would be inapropriate level of signal?
    Are they ballanced or unballanced?

Do You know that POD pro has two kinds of output schemes so that You can choose between line outs and outs for guitar amp, i was thinkinf about that difference?

Yes, I just wanted to know whether there is a gain thing to control when using direct and to amp situation since i intend to use both but am dissapointed with outputs of Pod and Sansamp which are too hot for my amps and think that Pod pro has solved that so I wanted so see is there an option to do that on a new one?

    pod xt

    greetings, all
If you are still pondering the pod xt purchase, my advice is to go ahead and do it. Not only does the xt sound better-both models and effects, (let's be honest, the reverbs in version 2.0 left a lot to be desired) but it is actually usable in live applications. Here's a tip: from the "tuner" menu, you can tell the pod xt whether you are running into a console, a power amp with cabs, or the front of a combo amp. Each selection changes the parameters just enough to be usable for its intended destination.

Try using the "Tube Preamp" model to give your natural amp sound a little grit character without changing the tone you bought the amp for. You can still add the stomp box models, just like they were pedals on the floor.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot...the 1/4" outs on all the pods are wired TRS, and they are actually balanced out, so for stereo recording you just need to procure a couple of TRS to XLR cables and you're in business.

I heard a Pod xt for the first time last night. We have a new guitarist in our band and he is unbelievable. Anyway...he used a pod xt through a power amp and 4x12 cab. In all honesty I've never been into the pods. They never sound the way I want them to sound...good. But the xt is definatly better than any I've ever heard. In my opinion it still lacks what my tube amps have, but who knows...?
Great tone comes from the soul.

yes and no...some of the presets on all PODs will be programmed at different volumes. But this is something that you can edit and save to the point where the volumes will all be pretty much the same. It's a little work, but it can be done.
