SX DM-24 Trak2 Hammerfall

Hey,


I have a question about Vocal Tracking. I currently have things with lightpip set up as follows:

Hammerfall 1-8 Trak2
Hammerfall 9-24 DM-24 (Slot 1)

When I'm tracking vocals, I'm am currently monitoring through the Hammerfall. My latency is low 1.5 ms, but I understand that I can monitor through the DM-24 and I was wondering if someone could walk me through it.

Monitoring through the console means you're listening to your signal before it does into your software rather than afterwards. With the Trak2, what I'd do is run an analog output (which I imagine you're not using) to your board and route that signal to your headphones. You can add onboard effects or whatever you want to it without worrying about any latency problems since you're not using your computer for it at all. You won't route the signal from your board into your software since it's getting it directly from the Trak2, which will give you the best sound quality anyhow.

That explains all. I appreciate your taking the time. The answer was simpler than I thought. I had seen posts for Direct Monitoring before, but none that referenced the Trak2.
