I am in process of setting up a small home project studio mostly for ensemble recording and possibly some post production work. I have been looking into various host based protools systems. i am currently using MBox, but I really need the i/o options to record a full band live and I would also like the ability to record at the higher sample rates that 002 offers. I know the 002 Rack is brand new, but my basic question is if the extra $1000 dollars is worth it for the fader strips. I was considering getting the 002 Rack and the CM Labs MotorMix. I have seen the MotorMix for $600. with this set up I could still get 8 motorized faders, and save $400 to put rowrds mics, etc., although, if I am correct, the motormix does not have a transport control. On the other hand, the standalone capabilities of the 002 could potentially be useful. Also, is there any difference in automation response between the 002's firewire and the midi-based automated faders of the motormix. If anybody has any input or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi
I love the interface the 002 provides.
You can use the faders to control everything.
Don't like tweaking the pan knobs= send it to a fader
Don't like tweaking plugins with your mouse or keyboard= Send it to a fader.
It doubles as a good mixer with EQ and Dynamics as well.
I don't know about motormix but the responce on my 002 is great.
I purchased it so I could do work at home as I workm with a TDM system at work and am surprised at how much I like it.
Good Luck
