Athlon XP/via , 2408 problems

I have just got new PC together inc. A Bit KR7 A 133 via mother board, & Athlon XP chip.

I tried running windows 2000 and the PCI 324 installed fine with the windows 2000 drivers off the motu site.
But when playing audio through the 2408 monitor channels 1&2 from Cubase or wave lab I only have a mono signal.
If I route the audio out put around to any of the other 2408 outputs the outputs are UN matched.
I.E.. output 7&8(bank a) will produce singles on the cards out puts 7 (bank A)& 8 (bank C).

The whole card is un stable and I can't access the Motu console from Cubase.

I've tried installing the card on Windows 98 and its more stable, I can access the 2408 console within cubase but somtimes its hit & miss if audio plays at all & the same problem occurs with the outputs on the card.

Im about to try it on Windows 98 SE but if you have any ideas I would appreciate it,

You DO KNOW that MOTU claims that the pci-324 is not "compatable" with most VIA chipsets, right? Well, my old mobo was an ECS P6BAT-A= with a via apollo pro 133 and it worked great. So, I figured I would get the same chipset based mobo with an Athlon XP, so I picked up the IWill kk266 w/ 133 chipset also. I could playback, but not record. I got pops and clicks everywhere. The are people that say they've gotten the pci-324 to work with their XP/Via setup, but I couldn't. I sold the board and got a board with an intel chipset with a pentium 3.
