Comping a vocal track in DP

Bear with me, please, as I am in the painful process of migrating from Opcode SVP to DP. I need some suggestions for the most efficient way to comp a vocal in DP. I am not sure if it is best to do each take as a separate track or to keep all takes on a single track but use the "new take" feature.

When I put all the vocals on separate tracks they all come up adjacent to each other and you can audition each one separately by using mute - - however, in SVP after you used a Strip Silence command you could highlight any audio segment and mute it. I can't seem to find a similar function in DP. It seems you either have to mute the whole track or select and delete a segment while making the comp.

If I put all the vocals on a single track and use the "new take" for each different take, I cannot find a way to comp the different takes into a final take.

This is probably dirt simple, but it is frustrating that there are no examples of comping in any of the documentation.

I do the new take thing and when it comes time to comp, I'll find the take I like the best and "dulicate take", possibly renaming it "comp". I then take other parts from the previous takes I liked and just copy and paste. For example, highlight a the first verse in take one, copy, switch back over to comp and paste. It's a little easiery working in the audio window when doing this. It's important to keep the track highlighted so that it pastes in the same place. If things get moved accidently you can go to the audio pull down menu and select "move to original sample location" to restore it to it's original place.
