Trivia Show Sound Effects Trigger Help

    Hi Folks...

I am working on a small, live, trivia show for a client.

In this show, the moderator needs to hold some sort of a box with two buttons on it...a button that will play the "Correct" sound effect and one that will play the "Wrong" sound effect.

In the past, I have used two Sony B-3 Minidisc players and tied my custom "button box" into them with the parallel jack on the back of the players. Though, sadly, my B-3's are done, and there are few around.

So, I am curious if anyone has any other ideas for how I might be able to accomplish this in a "clean" fashion.

    Thanks.

off the top of my head
we use a hand held mouse for our
    presentations with a laptop.
the only issue i can figure would be how to set up a program with, lets say double click,
would be one sound, single click would be another. If you can figure that out you can run the laptop sound outs to whatever.
Best that I can come up with
    happy holidays

what about midi? i dont' do much triggering with my setup, but could you use some sort of midi controller, and say set c1-c3 with the 'yes' sample and c#1 - c5 (or wherever) to the 'no' sample? of course, you'd need a controller that could fit in the podium, or maybe just have someone behind the stage who knows the questions and answers do it from back there?
