Is this supposed to work? I'm using 6.04 and if I insert a fairly hefty plug-in on a track, the track is no longer in sync with other tracks.
Is this a 6.5 feature?

I believe there are certain plugs that can cause this - plugin delay compensation is automatic in 6.5 - even in busses ! Another first!!
Insert Delay compensation is on busses in Sonar and even in this old Vegas 2.0 I've got. Did you mean the first time for Samplitude or what?
Anyway, I take it that this is not a feature of 6.04?
Steve, I insert fairly hefty plug-ins on tracks all the time and never experience any track delays. What plug-ins are you using that are causing this? I use all the Waves Gold Bundle, FreeverbToo, Magneto, Wavelab VST plugs, Ozone, etc.
Tim
Most of Waves (and others) have such low delay you won't easily spot it. Some that cause problems are the LinMB and the Ultra-Pitch for example and the lack of compensation is very noticeable.
No, I read somewhere in the NG that automatic latency compensation is difficult and that Samplitude will be the first to apply it to busses. I can't find the thread right now but did find mention of dsp boardsOriginally posted by stevepow:

and this from Volker on the use of high delay noise recuction plugins :And FYI: 6.5 Pro's latency compensation also has support for
DirectX plugins with latency (e.g. X-Noise). Currently you'll
realize a latency shift of some thousand samples when using it in
realtime/trackbouncing, 6.5 Pro automtically detects this on first
playback and compensates it on every further playback or trackbouncing
(only for track, bus or master inserts currently, not for objects
yet).
