Can someone give me some direction on a good compressor. I have a DBX 1066 and every engineer that has come over seems to not like it...confusing layout and not very good quality. I want one thats simple to use but pro quality....it can be a used one.
I guess it depends on the sound you're after. The dbx 1066 actually is a pretty decent-sounding compressor to my ears. Not much character one way or the other, but definitely workable, and not junk.
If you're into color and flexibility, go no further than the Empirical Labs Distressor. Everyone should own at least two!
