    Waves IDR dither in Logic

How do I take advantage of the Waves dithering on a final bounce in Logic???? It seems when I do my final bounce from the Master, there is no way around using the Logic dithering, (which happens right after the Waves dither, not good)
    Anyone, Anyone , Beuller ??

    Thanks, Thaddeus.

What do you mean Logic's dither is after Waves? Logic does not dither from 24bit unless you insert the plug-in, so I'm confused.

The L1 can dither and noise shape but the actual truncation of the file has to be done by the application (Logic). The L1 renders the 8 least significant bits as zero but the Logic application has to "cut them off". If you have any other questions on this please let us know.

Excellent info. So, the L1 dithers to 16 bit and leaves the LSB as zero. If this is the case, any clue about best procedure for SRC and dithering procedures from 48Khz/24bit to 44.1Khz/16bit using SONAR XL, Cool Edit 2K and L1:

Method 1: SONAR XL 24 bit 48khz mixdown (no dithering) --> Cool Edit 2K SRC (48->44.1). Apply L1 DX plugin destructively in Cool Edit. Change sample type to 16bit (no dither?). Save.

Method 2: SONAR XL 16 bit 48Khz mixdown no dither with L1 as the final plugin on the master bus. Cool Edit 2K SRC (48-44.1).

Method 3: Change the source tracks to 44.1 (from 48) and use method 2 without the Cool Edit step.

The Waves manual states that the L1 should be used as the absolute last step in the process (we only want to dither once). I'm really looking for a good method to SRC and dither using SONAR and Cool Edit, leaving the L1 as the last step. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

Wavestech, why doesn't IDR have the full capabilites of the dither section of the L1? IDR needs a 24bit dither option for those wanting to send 32bitfloat data across a 24bit bus.

You are correct... it should... but why not, for now, just use the L1 and zero the controls?
