How? I haven't quite worked out a way to play Amplitube live in CEP- since I love recording in CEP more than any other application. If anyone is doing this, I'd like a tip on how bst to do it.
Cheers, Bag.

CEP only runs directx plugs. Amplitube is a vst plug. You can buy a vst to dx adapter which would theoretically allow for you to use amplitube in cep, but as a side note, I used to use cep and I could never get my version of amplitube to work in it it even with the adapter. This is one of the reasons I upgraded to Cubase SX (which, by the way if you haven't used yet for recording, quite possibly could change your mind about cep-it did me!) Anyway, give it a try.
Just wanted to 2nd that note. I was a loyal CEP user for several years.... That is until I tried Nuendo. There was no going back. I only use CEP for wav editing now. I still prefer CEP's wav editor.

Yes, I'm a big SX fan myself, but I still find recording in CEP better. Punch-ins can be more accurate, and as someone who usually needs a lot of "fixes" the merge/join function in CEP is better than having to do an Audio Export to combine all my takes. But hey! Great programmes and good fun. This is just nit-picking. Thanks guys.
PS I solved the problem by having a multiple-input card, looping in and outs and using RT Player lite. Awkward, but it works...
Almost all the guitar tones from my album were done in CEP2 with Amplitube using Spin Audio's DX-VST wrapper lite (it's free!!!). The interface is a little "ghetto," but it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and actually works a lot better that DirectIXer, which costs $20-$30 USD.
Thanks Wockachuka, yeah that Spin Audio wrapper is tempting. Must give it a try... but you still don't get real-time monitoring, right?
How do you play, record and hear the Amplitube results at the same time?
Cheers, Bag.
You can't. For that matter, I still haven't figured out how to live-monitor DX or native CEP effects, either. I though you had to record the signal, then apply the effect to the signal afterward.Originally posted by Bag:

I don't think what you're asking can be done in CEP. Can it be done in other multitrackers?

You should be able to do this in Nuendo/CubaseSX. There was a thread about it a while ago: http://www.audioforums.com/forums/Fo...ML/001220.html
I haven't needed to do this in my Nuendo sessions yet, but I'll have to give it a try now.

You're right, CEP/AA doesn't support any kind of "live" input monitoring through the software with effects.Originally posted by wockachucka:

If you have a soundcard with either low latency WDM or ASIO drivers, and have a computer that can be run at less than about 5 ms of latency, many programs will allow "live" monitoring with plugin effects.
I used to use Sonar 2.2 XL, and it was called "input monitoring" in that version of Sonar, I think that even cakewalk's HomeStudio 2004 (89 bucks) can do it, both of these programs need a VST wrapper to use VST effects though.
