    Midi editing with ce2000

hey guys im a total noob when it comes to music editing, so please forgive my inane babble

I have ce2000 & normally use it for cleaning up my music from lps & fading out bad recordings etc, just very basic messing around,,

But my kid has a midi of meat loaf's bat out of hell and he wants me to crop it to about 40 seconds (to use as a poly ringtone)
However when I load the mid into cooledit it plays through the 7 minute track in about a second and sounds like white noise,, (terrible) as I have said I dont use cooledit for a lot and im not very advanced with it,,,
could someone point me in the right direction here as I dont know what to do,
Im not asking you to solve it for me but a kick in the arse in the right direction would be magic

    Hmmm....this is what i'd do

Go to session view. Select Insert MIDI

That should pop the midi file into your session.

I'd then go to my windows recording mixer and switch it RECORD WHAT YOU HEAR

Then, on track 2, set it up to record. Then, hit playback. As the midi file is being played back, it is now being recorded as an audio version of it on track 2.

Once thats done, you can edit the audio version to your liking.

Not sure if thats the best way, but it's the only way i know how..hope that helps
